New Hampshire hospitals are a major part of the health care infrastructure that ensures the health and safety of all New Hampshire residents, which is essential to a strong economy. During every state budget process, the New Hampshire Hospital Association works with the Governor and his administration, legislative leadership, advocates, and stakeholders about the need to address pressing issues around the health of New Hampshire residents and the financial sustainability of member hospitals and health systems.
The New Hampshire Hospital Association will continue to advocate for a state budget that makes investments in a number of areas vital to the health of our patients that:
- Protects the settlement agreement relative to the state’s Medicaid Enhancement Tax (MET) and Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) programs, which supports hospitals in the provision of uncompensated care and also provides significant funding for the overall state Medicaid program;
- Advances patient care by making significant investments in New Hampshire’s mental health system;
- Continues state funding of health and human services and public health programs, including Medicaid reimbursement rates that reduce reliance on supplemental payments and protect access to care;
- Invests in sustainable solutions that address the significant health care workforce shortage.
- Invests in programs and additional capacity across the entire continuum of mental health services to end the Emergency Department boarding crisis.
